GDV IN AEROSPACE STUDIES

PROSPECTS OF USING GAS DISCHARE VISUALISATION IN AEROSPACE STUDIES

G. Maklakov, academician, professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences

The Space Research and Technology Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

The report gives an overview of the GDV technology-based studies  in the field of aviation and space medicine conducted in the Space Research and Technology Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (SRTI BAS). It presents the basic principles on which gas discharge visualization systems are constructed. The priority areas of scientific research of the laboratory “Study of the bioelectrographic technologies in the aerospace systems” of SRTI BAS include: construction of automated systems to study the states of consciousness, creation of diagnostic complexes to assess psychophysiological state of complex ergatic systems operators, buildup of mobile (portable) diagnostic complexes to assess the environment and its impact on people.

The study of the human states of consciousness is a priority area in the aerospace medicine research. It is the altered state of consciousness (ASC) that determines to a large extent making adequate decisions by a person in extreme situations. The report considers a structural and functional research scheme of the complex ergatic systems operators’ ASC. It gives an analysis of the  capabilities of the ASC automated research system, in particular, methods of activation of human reserve capacities and their control by means of GDV technologies.

The report analyses the results of the field study focused on the diagnostic complex developed in SRTI and designed to assess the parameters of a human and environment psychophysiological state. Testing of a new technology of GDV images processing was conducted in various districts of Bulgaria within the framework of the environmental research (energetics of industrial and park areas, water sources, geo- and techno-pathogenic zones) and study of human psychophysiological  parameters under the influence of cultic complexes and sacred sites.

The perspectives for the bioelectrographic technology development in the aerospace systems have been outlined in the report.
